Ahead of the official launch of Today in Gaythe producers and hosts spoke with Them about why a queer news podcast is needed, their hopes for the show, and the instant chemistry they built with each other.

It was just instant mutual obsession that we both were trying to keep under wraps and I thought, this person is brilliant. EST, which means that the L. In addition to conceptualizing Today in GaySavoy Brown — who you may know and love from Yellowjackets — serves as an executive producer, as do Bever and editor and composer Lauren Klein.

And then at a natural point within the headlines, maybe something that Bex was particularly drawn into, we bring Bex into it. Vico Ortiz: That first lunch that we had, oh my gosh. I was like, what? I don't even know at this point. We compiled a list of possible co-hosts, and then we both spoke with people off the list.

She needs a bigger platform. It was just so apparent very quickly that I had chemistry with Vico and Bex. So I was like, great, both it is then. Jasmin, can you tell me a little bit about Today In Gay and how you came up with the concept? Nay and I developed and pitched this show everywhere.

What even just happened?

Today in Gay Podcast : Today in Gay is, at this, completely funded by Savoy Brown, who is hoping to continue the podcast through support from listeners and LGBTQ+ companies looking to advertise on the show

Nay produced a docu-series and brought me on to produce one episode of the docu-series Queer for Fear. Created by Jasmin Savoy Brown and hosted by Nay Bever and Vico Ortiz, TODAY iN GAY is your one-stop shop for gay news--especially good gay news!

And so I'm funding this myself until hopefully we get enough Substack subscribers and ads. And we like to open the show and end the show with good news. What can I make for her? TODAY iN GAY is a short, joyful podcast delivering news impacting the queer community Monday through Friday.
